Image Compressor
An all-in-one image compressor that works entirely in your browser. Compress by quality, by target KB, or by use case — JPG, PNG, WEBP and AVIF supported, with nothing ever uploaded.
Files never leave your device — 100% browser-based.
When to use this tool
- You need a single tool that handles JPG, PNG, WEBP and AVIF — no more bouncing between converters.
- You're optimising a folder of photos for a website, blog or store and want batch output.
- You want a quality slider, a target KB and per-image previews in one place.
Best for
- Website and blog images
- Batch optimising phone photos
- Email attachments
- Product galleries
Every image you drop here is processed entirely inside your browser using the standard Canvas and File APIs. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged on a server — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works.
Quality & file size notes
- • Default quality 80 is the safe sweet spot for JPG and WEBP — usually 40–70% smaller with no visible loss.
- • For PNG, savings depend on the image: logos and graphics shrink a lot, photos barely shrink (convert to JPG/WEBP instead).
- • Use the target-size mode (100KB, 500KB, 1MB) when an upload limit is fixed; the tool auto-tunes quality to land just under.
Things to watch out for
- — Always keep your originals — lossy compression is one-way.
- — Re-compressing an already-compressed image compounds artefacts. Start from the highest-quality source you have.

Is this image compressor really free with no limits?+
Yes — unlimited files, no signup, no watermark and no daily cap. All processing runs in your browser, so there is no server cost to throttle.
Which format gives me the smallest file?+
For photos, AVIF wins (often half the size of WEBP), followed by WEBP, then JPG. For logos and transparent graphics, WEBP and PNG are the best fit.
Can I compress 100+ images at once?+
Yes — drop them all in, pick a quality preset or target size, and download a single ZIP at the end.
Will it strip my photo's location and camera metadata?+
Yes. Re-encoding removes EXIF, GPS coordinates and camera tags, which improves privacy and also makes the file slightly smaller.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about how this tool works.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. All compression happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device.
Is the compressor free?
Yes — fully free, unlimited, no account, no watermarks.
Will my image lose quality?
JPG, WEBP and AVIF use lossy compression, so some quality is traded for smaller files. Use the quality slider to find the sweet spot. PNG is lossless — most savings come from re-encoding and stripping metadata.
How small can I make my images?
Pick a target file size (in KB) and we'll auto-tune quality to get as close as possible while preserving the best look.
Is EXIF metadata removed?
Yes — re-encoding strips EXIF, GPS coordinates and camera tags, which also reduces file size.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The compressor is fully responsive and runs on any modern phone, tablet or desktop browser.
