Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ImageToAnything. Can't find your answer? Drop us a note via the contact page.
Is this image converter really free?
Yes — ImageToAnything is 100% free with no limits, no sign-up, no watermarks and no hidden upsells. We support the project with unobtrusive advertising so the converter can stay free for everyone.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion happens locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, are never transmitted over the network, and are discarded from memory as soon as you close the tab.
Which image formats are supported?
You can upload JPG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF, HEIC, AVIF and TIFF. You can convert to JPG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF and AVIF. We're constantly adding new formats — let us know if there's one you'd like to see.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Absolutely. Drag in as many images as you'd like and use the Convert All button. You can download them one by one, or grab everything as a single ZIP file.
Why did my GIF lose its animation?
When converting an animated GIF to a static format like JPG or PNG, only the first frame is kept — that's a limitation of the target format itself. To preserve animation, convert to WEBP or AVIF (animated) or keep the file as GIF.
Does it work on mobile devices?
Yes. ImageToAnything is fully responsive and works on any modern browser — iOS Safari, Android Chrome, Firefox, Edge and more. You can convert photos directly from your phone's camera roll.
Is there a file size limit?
Because conversions happen on your device, the practical limit depends on your browser and available memory. As a rule of thumb, files up to ~50 MB convert smoothly on most modern phones and laptops. Larger files may work on desktops with plenty of RAM.
Is the site secure?
Yes. The site is served over HTTPS and your files never leave your browser, so there is no server-side data for anyone to intercept. We do not store, log or process your images in any way on our end.
Do I need an account to use it?
No account, no email, no sign-up — ever. Just open the page and start converting. We don't believe you should have to hand over personal data to convert a file.
Can I reduce image file size?
Yes. Use the Quality slider for lossy formats (JPG, WEBP, AVIF) to trade size for visual fidelity, or use the Resize option to shrink the dimensions. Both options can dramatically reduce file size.
Can I use converted images commercially?
You retain full ownership of every image you process. We never claim any rights to your files, so you can use the converted output anywhere you would use the original — including commercial projects.
How is this different from other converters?
Most online converters upload your files to a server, process them there, and then let you download the result. We do everything locally in your browser, which means it's faster, more private and works even with sensitive images you would rather not upload anywhere.
